Help-A-Dog-A-Thon App, Powered by Samsung

To celebrate sponsoring Crufts for 20 years, Samsung has collaborated with animal charity Blue Cross to create Facebook app Help-A-Dog-A-Thon. The idea behind the app is to get the public involved in providing much need health checks to homeless dogs being cared for by Blue Cross. However, Samsung need YOUR help to make this happen.

To help, all you need to do is 'adopt' your very own virtual rescue dog just like one of the Blue Cross canines by visiting the Crufts Facebook Page and give him all the care he needs. Just by doing this, you are supporting 2,000 dogs as this app helps raise the much-needed money that is required to fun health checks for all these cuddly canines. Every dog that comes to Blue Cross is given a full health MOT that checks the condition of the dog's skin, teeth and coat, checks his weight, sight and hearing and measures his heart rate and breathing but this treatment comes at a price that you could be helping to cover the costs of by using the Help-A-Dog-A-Thon app.

Although it only launched today, myself and many others have already 'adopted' a virtual pet; I named my Greyhound Boris and fed, walked, groomed, trained and played with him. He may only be online but I have become quite attached to my little pal!

 Remember: every virtual dog 'adopted'/ every 'Like' donated = Samsung making a contribution towards a vital health check for a Blue Cross rescue dog

Crufts 2013!

There's only 14 days to go until the biggest dog show in the world starts... Crufts is back in town very soon! Although it started way back in 1891, the event is still very important in the doggie calendar with over 25,000 dogs competing at it this year. Crufts 2013 is going to be held at the NEC, Birmingham on the 7-10th March and you will not want to miss it. There is something for everyone at the show, including:

• Agility championships
• A Dog Activities ring where you can learn about fantastic training techniques
• Fast and furious flyball
• International heelwork to music competitions
• A Discover Dogs area with over 200 breeds of dogs to meet
• Over 400 stands to shop from with special show offers and giveaways
• The chance to see the dog titled as Best In Show

  And much, much more!

A day out at Crufts is one you will remember forever and, with children under the age of 8 getting free entry, why not treat everyone to this spectacular event? My humans have been attending Crufts for years now and the reason they continue to visit is because everyone loves going!

Interview with Mitzy the Cavalier!

Recently, I interviewed my friend Mitzy, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who I met on Twitter @MitzyCavalier. She is lovely and such a good friend to me. You can also follow her on Instagram at the same name to see her gorgeous photos!

Hi there, Mitzy!
So, how long have you been on Twitter?
 I've been on twitter since 15th December 2012- almost 2 months!
What/who inspired you to make a Twitter account?
You did actually; my mum showed me your blog in YKC Fetch magazine and I thought it was cool so I tried my paw at it!

When did you get Instagram?
My first Instagram photo says it was 10 weeks ago so that would be about the start of December I think.
I know you have a very popular account on Instagram- you have over 600 followers!
Any tips for becoming just as successful?

I don't have any tips as such but I just started hashtagging my photos and putting a minimum of 1 on Instagram everyday! Interact with your followers and follow other people/dogs, comment on their photo saying how cute they are and that will promote you as well. Also, try to give comments on your photo as well as # them! I always put a watermark of @mitzycavalier on mine to make sure that no one can take the photos.
I might have to put your tips to use on my own account!
What's your favourite toy/treat?
 My favourite treat is the rare PRAWN CRACKER that my mum sneaks for me when she has a special Chinese meal for dinner from the take away! They are the best but very special! I also love my giant octopus which smells of duck and quacks and all the legs have a squeaker at the end of them and are made of crinkly paper! Also doggie chocolate drops, I'll do anything for those...
Prawn crackers... Very unusual treat there Mitzy! I will have to pester the humans to let me try one next time they have a Chinese.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Does sleeping count? I'm a couch potato but love a cuddle! I also enjoy going to nursing homes with my mum to do my Therapet work! I love the people in the homes and I also get cuddles and treats-what's not to love?!
Man, that does sound good!
Do you compete in competitions?
I've only ever done a companion show and that was for fun! I'd like to do proper showing but I have one squint tooth... Mum would like to do it with me too I think. My sister Millie does agility competitions!
Aw, Mitzy, you're very beautiful anyway; I'm sure you'd win any dog show!
Do you live with any other animals?
Yes, my half sister Millie; we have the same dad. She is also a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and is 3 weeks younger than me. She is smaller than me and is an agility dog!
Also Bella, she is a Black and Tan cavalier and is 14 months old. She only arrived on Saturday 9th so I'm still getting used to her but we are starting to get along fine; I'm just a bit territorial as I'm the dominant dog here!
It must be pretty awesome having two sisters; surely you must get 3 times as many toys?!
Any aims that you'd like to complete?
I'd like to receive some sort of award for my therapy work. I would love to get a big one from the Queen for example but I know I need to work for it!

Pancake Day!

I'm very sad right now. I've just learnt that it was Shrove Tuesday yesterday and I didn't have ONE pancake. Nope, not even one. I didn't even get a bite! I'm slightly outraged at the moment. And what makes it worse is that my humans didn't even have one but instead made Valentine's biscuits. Are you kidding me?! Why would you make heart-shaped biscuits with jam in when you can have pancakes? Crazy, if you ask me. I do have to admit though that they do look pretty tasty... I wouldn't say no to one if I got the choice! But obviously, I won't get the choice. And no, that's not because my humans are selfish (they are a bit though anyway as they don't always share their dinner with me), it's because they've eaten every SINGLE one of them! Shocking. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard it. All 12 biscuits. Now that's greedy.

My Social-Networking Accounts!

I thought that in this blog post I would let you know which media sites I am on.
 Currently, I am mostly on Twitter @Jasperthedoggie as I love talking to my friends that I met on there- yep, I've met a LOT of friends on Twitter! To be honest, when I set that account up on September 29th 2011 (not sure how I remember the date; it's just stuck in my mind!), I never thought that I'd meet 1,900 doggies/dog lovers... It has been pretty wild but I LOVE it.
Also, I have recently set up an Instagram account under the title @JasperSpringerSpaniel. Instagram is awesome because every time I refresh my page on it, another load of doggie pictures come up!
In addition, I do a have Facebook account but I rarely use it; it's only there in case I need to access something via Facebook! If you'd like to add me as a friend, my name is Jasper Ess on it.
That's all of them (I think!) so if I haven't added you to one of my accounts already, I look forward to social-networking with you!

1.5 Weeks Until the Next Holiday!

Well, for the humans that is- and I just can't wait.


Paws crossed that we play this game again!

At the moment, the humans are working, working, working which means that my laptop- the one I use to write this very blog- is constantly in use so I can't post as often as I'd like to. At least I only have to put up with this for less than two weeks more... And then I get most of the humans all day, everyday!
The humans are obviously looking forward to this holiday as well because they've been speaking (when they're not working) about what they'd like to do. I can already tell that this holiday is going to be pretty awesome as I've heard the words 'walk' and 'photos'; this means that there's probably going to be another photo shoot in which I will model! Many doggies I know think 'blah, photos' but me, ohhh no. I love photo shoots as this means that we're going to venture out somewhere other than my local park and it will most likely have water that I can play in.
Ahh, the word 'water' just makes my tail wag like mad!
