It's finally the holidays- woo! 5 and 1/2 weeks of fun with my family and it's SUNNY (well, at least, it was!). I have, of course, been making the most of the sun, having been on two walks in an hour earlier today! The humans are doing a good job of tiring me out as both of those walks were long as well! However, later on, the rain started mid-walk, causing the human and me to get absolutely soaked. She's got changed 3 times today because of the rain- silly, I know.
Even if the sun has gone away, you never know, it may be back so it's important to remember to not 'cook your dog'. By leaving your dog in a car, even with the windows down the temperature will rise and this can lead to awful consequences. 6000 people a year ring the RSPCA about dogs being left in cars which is why Dogs Today magazine have introduced a campaign to put a stop to this. These 6000 people should not need to call up about these what-can-be-tragic incidents. Although I love sitting in my crate in the car, I do not like getting hot so my humans make sure that I am not in there when the sun is shining brighter than usual. They always give me plenty of water and keep in the coolest areas possible. The Don't Cook Your Dog campaign has attracted the attention of thousands of people and has helped raise awareness of the consequences of leaving dogs in hot area areas. For more information, visit http://www.dogstodaymagazine.co.uk/dontcookyourdog/ and make sure you 'don't cook your dog'.
The Kennel Club has created this video about the issue, watch it below:
